Purpose

To guide anyone refuelling vehicles at the Diamond Creek depot through the proper steps.

This procedure is important for drivers to be familiar with because, as commonplace as refuelling our vehicles is, the procedure is still hazardous, and doing it correctly is important to prevent incident or injury.

When to Use This SOP
  • Follow this procedure any time you’re fuelling a vehicle at the Diamond Creek depot.

  • Who Should Use This SOP

    This SOP is for:

  • Drivers
  • Maintenance shed team
  • Anyone fuelling a vehicle at the Diamond Creek depot

  • Tools and Resources Needed

(List the equipment, tools, electronics or software needed to complete this procedure.)

  • Fuel tag (blue disk attached to each bus keyring)
  • Plastic gloves (provided at the fuel bowsers)
  • Fuel bowsers

  • Procedure

    1. Park Bus at Fuel Bowsers

Pull forward until you align the fuel hatch with the nozzle.

    2. Note Odometer Reading

    3. Turn Off Engine and Ignition

    4. Put on PPE Disposable Glove

    5. Tap Bus Fuel Tag on Bowser NFC Receiver

The fuel tag is the blue, plastic disk attached to the bus keyring.

The tag lets fuel usage be recorded automatically – no manual fuel logging needed!

    6. Input Your Driver ID and Press Enter

    7. Enter Odometer Reading Accurately and Press Enter

Accurate odometer readings keep your vehicle’s maintenance schedule up to date.

    8. Select the Correct Bowser

    • Bowser 4 - Office Side
    • Bowser 5 - Carpark Side
    • Where is bowser 1-3? We’re stilllooking for them…

    9. Unlock the Fuel Compartment

Not all fuel compartments need a key to open. But for those that do, the key that starts the bus will unlock the fuel compartment.

    10. Remove Fuel Cap and Fuel Bus Until Full

    Be careful not to overfill.

    11. Replace Fuel Cap and Secure Nozzle Back in Bowser

    12. Discard Gloves in Rubbish Bin

    13. Clear Vehicle From Fuel Bowser Area Swiftly

Swift fuelling keeps our runs on time, lowers stress levels, and gets our drivers home as soon as possible.
