When to Use This SOP
Who Should Use This SOP
This procedure is specific to two classes of PPE and individuals:
Tools and Resources Needed
Disposable Gloves
Rationale
Wearing gloves while fuelling is important for both safety and professionalism reasons:
- Fuel is a hazardous substance that should not make contact with your skin.
- The smell of fuel is unpleasant for most passengers, and doesn’t contribute to the perception of our buses as clean environments.
Procedure
- Before fuelling, put on a pair of the disposable gloves provided at the bowser
(If there’s no gloves present at the bowser please pop into Operations and grab a fresh box, leaving it at the bowser for the next driver.)

- Wear gloves for the entire fuelling procedure
- Once fuelling is complete remove the gloves and toss them in the bin provided.

Hi-Vis Vests
Rationale
There are giant vehicles driving through our yards. And we’re tiny humans. So hi-vis is important to help you be more readily spotted by drivers.
Procedure
- If you are walking around in the yard you are required to wear a hi-vis at all times.
- This includes EVERYONE in every role, including visitors.
- The “yard” is anywhere that is not in the depot office or lounge or out front of reception
- A hi-vis vest will be issued as part of your uniform when you start.
- Hi-Vis vests must be removed while driving.
- Tuck your vest away next to your seat while driving.
- Do NOT put your hi-vis vest on the dashboard.
- Do NOT put your hi-vis vest over the back of your seat.
